Checklist: 5 Things to Check on Your Garage Door Every Spring/Fall ๐Ÿ‚๐ŸŒทJust like your car, your garage door needs regular attention to ensure it operates safely and efficiently. Seasonal changes can put extra stress on its components, making spring and fall the perfect times for a quick check-up!

Here are 5 essential things The Garage Door Guys recommend you check on your garage door:

1. Inspect the Hardware: Look for loose nuts, bolts, and screws on hinges, rollers, and other moving parts. Tighten anything that seems loose.

2. Test the Balance: Disconnect the opener (pull the red emergency release cord) and manually lift the door. It should stay open about halfway. If it sags or flies up, the springs might need adjustment.

3. Check the Rollers: Examine the rollers for wear, cracks, or chips. Worn rollers can cause noise and uneven movement.

4. Lubricate Moving Parts: Apply a silicone-based lubricant to hinges, rollers (excluding plastic wheels), and springs. Avoid lubricating the tracks themselves.

5. Test the Auto-Reverse Safety Feature: Use the wood block and photo-eye tests (as we discussed in a previous post!) to ensure your safety mechanisms are working correctly.

Regular maintenance can prevent costly repairs and extend the life of your garage door. If you find any issues or prefer professional assistance, weโ€™re always here to help!
