1. Inspect the Hardware: Look for loose nuts, bolts, and screws on hinges, rollers, and other moving parts. Tighten anything that seems loose.
2. Test the Balance: Disconnect the opener (pull the red emergency release cord) and manually lift the door. It should stay open about halfway. If it sags or flies up, the springs might need adjustment.
3. Check the Rollers: Examine the rollers for wear, cracks, or chips. Worn rollers can cause noise and uneven movement.
4. Lubricate Moving Parts: Apply a silicone-based lubricant to hinges, rollers (excluding plastic wheels), and springs. Avoid lubricating the tracks themselves.
5. Test the Auto-Reverse Safety Feature: Use the wood block and photo-eye tests (as we discussed in a previous post!) to ensure your safety mechanisms are working correctly.
