Ever notice your garage door bowing or sagging when it’s in the open position?
It might not seem like a big deal at first, but that slight bend can eventually turn into a much bigger problem.
That’s exactly what we were dealing with on this job!
The garage door had begun bowing under its own weight, causing the sections to sag while the door was overhead.
And here’s where things get problematic.
As the door begins traveling downward, those sagging sections can bind, making it difficult for the door to transition smoothly through the tracks.
The result? A garage door that can get stuck, strain the opener, and potentially damage the panels even further.
🔧 SO HOW DID WE FIX IT?
Instead of recommending an expensive door replacement, we installed U-bar reinforcement struts to provide additional structural support to the weakened sections.
These reinforcements help:
✅ Reduce Sagging — Provide additional support to prevent the panels from bowing excessively.
✅ Improve Door Movement — Help the sections maintain their shape as the door opens and closes.
✅ Reduce Unnecessary Strain — Help prevent binding that can put additional stress on the opener and other components.
✅ Prevent Further Damage — Reinforce weakened sections before the problem becomes more severe.
✅ Extend the Door’s Useful Life — When the panels are still structurally sound enough to repair, reinforcement can help avoid a premature replacement.
💡 HERE’S THE IMPORTANT PART!
Not every bent or sagging garage door needs to be replaced.
Sometimes the solution is as simple as installing the proper reinforcement hardware.
However, if the problem is ignored long enough, the panels can eventually become so distorted or damaged that replacement becomes the only practical option.
And that’s why catching these issues early matters!
